The Glens travelled to play Premier league side Camelon in the second round of Football Nations cup. Glenrothes had Denton back after suspension and also captain Callum Kinnes returned from injury
First half
The Glens created an opening in the first minute when L. Schiavone had a shot just slip past the post, then on four minutes in their first attack the home side took the lead when a cross from Daramola was unfortunately turned into his own net by A. McDonald. From the re-start the ball found Kinnes inside the eighteen yard box only to see his effort narrowly slip past the post, on ten minutes Smith made a fine save from a header by Docherty, a shot from King hit a defender not long after, from a corner kick the ball fell at the feet of Martin only to shoot over the bar. On sixteen minutes Smith again made another fine save from McKenzie. Then a cross from the left was headed goalwards by Docherty but again Smith saved. On twenty minutes the home side increased their lead when a clearence from The Glens defence found Deans twenty yards from goal who hammered the ball into the net. Although two goals down The Glens were still creating chances and a effort from Denton was pushed round the post by Kinnear, from the corner kick King shot wide, from that goal kick the home side broke straight up the park and McDonald had to concede a corner. A fine twenty five yard effort from Watt scraped the outside of the post. Smith again was the saviour when he saved from Docherty. A minute later the same player had a effort cleared off the goal line. On thirty four minutes Glens conceded another goal when Docherty found himself in acres of space to allow him to fire past Smith. Glens to their credit were not giving up and Martin broke clear only to be halted by the official giving a very soft foul. The Glens were awarded a free kick on the eighteen line which was hit against the defensive wall. on forty one minutes glens got a life line to get back into the game when a twenty yard effort from L. Schiavone slipped under the body of Kinnear into the net. Another run and cross from Kinnes was cleared for a corner kick, from the resultant kick Martin headed over. Although two goals down at the interval The Glens were far from out of this game.
Second half
In the first minute of the second half Smith was the hero when he made an excellent save from McKenzie. a minute later a free kick from Kane struck the post. On forty eight minutes S. McDonald received a nasty face injury and had to be replaced by Miller. The Glens had a very strong case for a penalty kick when the ball struck the arm of a defender but the official turned a blind eye. Glens won a free kick twenty yards from goal which Martin forced the keeper to make a save. Next an effort from Watt was only inches away. The Glens were putting a lot of pressure on the home goal. On the hour mark a shot from Martin was cleared off the goal line. A. McDonald then received a leg injury and had to be replaced by Powrie. With all their territorial advantage the final push was eluding them but on sixty eight minutes they got the break they were looking for when a cross fron the left found King who toe poked the ball home, a effort from Martin then skimmed the top of the crossbar. On seventy five minutes a long throw in from L. Schiavone was touched on by C. Schiavone only to see it cleared off the line. Kinnear had to look sharp to tip a header from Martin over the bar. The Glens then made their final substitution Russell replacing Denton. A long kick from Smith had Russell bearing in on goal only to be beaten to the ball by Kinnear. Finally in injury time a defensive mistake allowed Cameron to run in on goal and shoot past Smith.
The Glens can feel themselves a little bit unlucky against the Premiership side. coming back from three goals down they showed a lot of character to get back into the game and with a little bit of luck the score might have been a little bit different.
